Baboons If you are a Baboon then your feet are as dexterus as your hands so a ‘foot off’ works just as well. When you are a young Baboon and you have an itch you have to scratch!! Chilling out in the early morning sun after having come down from the top of the massive Masahtu tree behind this big male Baboon. Very sleepy, early one morning along in Mashatu after what looks to have been a busy night. Both the adults and young Baboons were so intent on their grooming they took no notice of the Water Monitor wandering past them. Looks like a ‘kopseer’ judging from this male Baboon’s grimace. This male Baboon was catching up on some sleep early one morning in Mashatu. One of these small Baboons was keeping an eye on the Fish Eagle flying by. Grooming to the point of absolute relaxation – spar Chobe style! This young Baboon was looking very unsure of himself. Unblemished beauty and those hazel coloured eyes!!! “Now this is how the plan will work” the team leader is obviously giving instructions. Thirsty but super wary. It is those crocodiles you know! Mischevious! This young Baboon was racing up and down a big fallen branch of a Mashatu tree. Good yoga candidate if you can scratch the back of your ear with your big toe. A very small Baboon was not confident enough to venture far from Mum’s protection. Trying to get a shot with some backlighting. Baboon are great subjects because they are so hairy. Down near the river, a troop of Baboons were foraging. These two little imps were very curious Baboons are very wary at the water’s edge. These two young Babooons had one eye on us and one on the water. These two young Baboons were being terrorised by two teenagers and so were clinging to each other for support. Grooming session early one morning on a sandbank along the Chobe River – the one lying down seems to be in heaven. It is Sunday morning – not much happening and it is nice and warm in Mashatu – let it all hang out!! The coy look – don’t be deceived he is wide awake. This little Baboon is getting excited about playing his ‘pretend double bass’. Baboons are very wary at the water\s edge of dangers in and around the water. Hands full of sand and eating a water lily stem. This young baboon was obviously enjoying his salad. Baboons are easily spooked at the waters’s edge Little imp!
